Donald Edward Wiess, 75, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  The Savannah native was a graduate of Richard Arnold High School.  He went on to have a long career in the grocery business, first for the Bargain Corner, then on to other stores to include, M&M, Kroger, Food Lion, and Fresh Market, making friends along the way.

Donald was of the Catholic faith and attended St. James Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Steven W. Wiess, and Reba Bird Porter Wiess.

Surviving are his sister, Sally E. Hendley (Ronnie A.), nephews, Shawan D. Wiess (Jennifer), Robert B. Kemp, and Steven H. Hendley (Lauren).  Also surviving are his great-nieces, Megan M. Wiess, Erica G. Wiess, Taylor B. Wiess, and Anna Kate Hendley, and his great-nephews, Colton B. Kemp, Carson A. S. Kemp, and Patrick H. Hendley, and one great-great-nephew, Levi Wiess Hernandez.

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

A graveside service will be on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery on Dean Forest Road.
